Make sure your business is found locally with a data-driven local SEO strategy in place. We’re here to let search engines know exactly what it is that your business is offering, and where. Whether you’re looking to branch out and target specific locations or improve your online visibility for the area your business operates in, we can help.
How local SEO works and why local SEO matters
Local SEO works in the same way as typical Google searches, however, the key difference is that local SEO helps to increase visibility on local search results. For example, a user may search for “builders in Bournemouth” and the results will list builders offering their services in Bournemouth. With 46% of all Google searches seeking local information and 97% of search engine users looking for local businesses online (Social Media Today), optimising your website for local search is invaluable.
Google’s three main categories of local ranking factors are:
Relevance - this is how well your local business profile fits with a user’s search.
Distance - this refers to the proximity in which the search is made to the results. If a user does not specify a location for a particular product or service, Google will serve them results based on what they know about their location and where your business is located.
Prominence - this refers to how established a business is. Essentially, users may be presented with results with well-known businesses prioritised first (this is where reviews and customer testimonials can really help you out!).
Local SEO is important to businesses for many reasons, including:
- It helps to drive more relevant traffic to your site.
- It helps to increase the number of qualified leads who are looking for products or services in a specific area.
- It helps to increase the number of customers who physically visit your store - according to Google, 76% of people who made a local search on their smartphone visited a business within 24 hours.
- Building trust and authority with local customers who are likely to purchase again.

About our local SEO services
Local keyword research & strategy
Using tools such as Semrush and Google Keyword Planner, we carry out in-depth keyword analysis and create a local strategy for optimising your most important pages. We’ll consider your target audience, how competitive keywords are, your current rankings, and of course, user intent.
Content optimisation
On-page signals are also incredibly important. We’ll optimise your content for keywords you want to target in your specific area and ensure that your webpages are of high-quality. We don’t just write for search engines, we write for people. Without fresh, relevant and inspiring content, you could fall short in conversions.
Link building and citations
Local link building involves getting backlinks from relevant local websites, and, even today, it plays a part in Google’s algorithm. By forming links with other reputable websites, you can drive more traffic to your site and improve your E-E-A-T score.
We’ll use trusted SEO tools such as Majestic which allow us to check site metrics and determine whether a particular website is worth building links with (websites plastered in dodgy ads or implementing black hat SEO techniques are banned!) and Semrush to see how competitors are optimising their backlink profiles. Furthermore, local citations such as Bing Places, Apple Maps, Facebook, Yell and Glassdoor can serve as strong local signals which is why they are part of our optimisation process.
GBP listings
Optimising your Google Business Profile (formally Google My Business) is a great way to keep both customers and Google updated with your business offerings. From contact information to opening hours, your GBP listing is an effective tool for managing your business information and can encourage more web visits and phone calls; in fact, according to a survey conducted by Moz, GBP listings continue to be one of the biggest drivers of SEO success (AdShark). Furthermore, your GBP listings will appear in Google’s local pack which will further strengthen your online presence.
We’ll guide you through managing your GBP listings and optimise them so that you have the best chance of appearing in Google’s Local Pack. Whether you are managing one or multiple listings, we’ve got you covered.
Technical SEO
Your site might look the part, but it needs to perform the part too. From broken links and duplicate content to page speed and site structure, we’ll identify any issues on your site that are impacting your online visibility and user experience. Moreover, we’ll also look into the structured data on your site and suggest schema markup that could further help your local SEO efforts. For example, we can create a schema which highlights where your business is based so this is made clear to search engines. We also recommend enabling reviews on your site because business ratings are another strong signal for Google!
Local search monitoring and reporting
An SEO’s work is never done, which is why we continue to monitor your site’s performance and look to discover new opportunities. Initially, we’ll discuss KPIs that align with your goals and objectives so we can track them. After we implement changes to your site, we’ll closely monitor your rankings and keep on the lookout for technical issues to ensure that you're staying on track to meet your goals. We’ll also put our findings in a report each month so that you can see how our efforts are impacting your site.
